Here is the hand-made Gidgee Guitar slide (no longer in production).

One would think that wood could not produce a reasonable slide sound, but owing to the extreme density of gidgee, the result is quite pleasing.

This slide has far less string-clatter on the wound strings, is light-wieght and very comfortable on the hand.

The resulting sound has less sustain than glass or brass slides but produces an effective "pre-compressed" sound that will be suitable for many slide styles.

This makes it ideal for high-gain playing where high frequencies and excessive feedback can be a problem.
